How To Shutdown Your Computer Remotely Via Email For Microsoft OS?

Is it Possible To Shutdown Your Computer Remotely Via Email ?

Yes it is 100% possible , today we will try to tell you a trick to shutdown your computer remotely from anywhere via sending a email to your account. You can use this method to shutdown your PC when you are not at home and your PC is turned on for some download to complete , after the estimated time of your download you can send a mail to your mail box and your PC will be turned off safely.

Requirements

  • Microsoft Operating System ( example : Windows Xp , Windows 7 , Windows 8 )
  • Microsoft Outlook 
  • Mail account supports pop protocol example (username@gmail.com)
  • Internet Connection

Steps To Shutdown your Computer Remotely Via Email :

  • Firstly Create a bat fie using notepad to shutdown your computer and save it as shutdown.bat as shown below :

  • Secondly create a microsoft outlook pop3 account using few simple step , we are using gmail account , you can use any account support pop protocol .
      • open outlook > Goto tools > Account Settings >> click on new

      • After clicking new a window will appear as below select manually select server settings or additional server types and click next.

      • After choosing Manually configure server new window will appear and will ask you to choose E-mail service as below choose Internet E-mail by clicking on the radio button and click next .

      • Now you have to enter your email settings as shown below by filling up the form appropriately and then click on more settings to configure your mail properly. And please be careful while filling the incoming and outgoing mail servers, we mentioned gmail servers here.

      • In more settings we will configure outgoing server and advanced settings properly for receiving and sending mails as shown below and every circle which is red in the below figure is to be filled and checked properly .

      • Click finish after filling all the fields and your account is successfully made in outlook .
  • Thirdly: Very important step to set a rule in microsoft outlook mail you created above  which will turn off your computer.
    • Open outlook >> Goto tools in menu bar  >> Select rules and alerts  >> click new rule  , and window will appear as below:
    • Select check message when they arrive and click next.

    • Now window will appear with many options with check box in front of it we have to choose suitable one for us as shown in the figure below: 
    • choose second option and edit the rule description by clicking on the specific words

    • After clicking on the specific words a small window will appear and will ask to give words
    • You will write shutdown in the text field and the click add , this will be the subject of your mail to shutdown your computer remotely.

    •  After giving a specific word we have to select action on that email as shown in figure below:
    • Select start application and then edit the description by clicking on application.

    • Then select the shutdown.bat file from your computer , which you have stored in your hard drive in the beginning of the tutorial . and then press next , next until finish 
    • And that is it send a mail to you with the subject shutdown  will shutdown your PC.

And one important Step its not mandatory but to check your mail every minute you have to follow this step or your pc will terminate after 30 minutes when you will send you mail to your mailbox.
  • Goto send/receive.
  • Send/ receive settings
  • Decide Send / Receive group.

Set your  send and recieve schedule to “1″ minute and click close as shown below:

Now if you want to turn of your PC you just have to send a mail to your configured mailbox with shutdown  as a subject and that's it. it will turnoff your computer in a minute.
